Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

  • Identify the five senses of the body – sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste.
  • Observe different objects using the 5 senses
  • Enumerate the different purposes of each of the 5 senses;
  • Recognize the importance of the 5 senses in our life and how to take care of them;
  • Participate in the activities involving the 5 senses;

Review of Prior Learning:

Parts of the body (game)

Instruct students to point/touch their corresponding body parts.

The teacher will instruct students to point/touch the body part used for each of the five senses. The teacher will provide information for each of the senses.

Practice and Feedback:

The teacher will provide students with the following tasks:

Station 1 (Smell):

  • spoiled milk

  • perfume

Guide questions:

  1. Which part of the body did you use for this task?

  2. Which of the following smells good?

  3. Which of the following smells bad?

Station 2 (Sight):

  • picture (spot the difference)

Guide question:

  1. Which part of the body did you use for this task?

Station 3 (Hearing):

  • Pass the message

Guide question:

  1. Which part of the body did you use for this task?

Station 4 (Taste):

  • unripe mango

  • coffee

  • candy

  • bagoong

Guide questions:

  1. Which part of the body did you use for this task?

  2. Which of the following tastes sour?

  3. Which of the following tastes sweet?

  4. Which of the following tastes bitter?

  5. Which of the following tastes salty?

Station 5 (Touch):

  • Mystery box” (containing stuffed toy, stone, sand paper, silk/cloth)

Guide questions:

  1. Which part of the body did you use for this task?

  2. Guess what’s inside and describe its texture.


Application and Summary:

Bring Me Game

-Something red (sight)

-Something sweet (taste)
-Something soft (touch)

-Something that has a loud sound (hearing)

-Something that smells good (smell)

What do you think is the importance of each of the five senses? How can you take care of your senses?
